TroutShout is my fishing blog.  I love fly fishing, primarily for trout, in moving water, but will take whatever i can get.

Since my wife works for Umpqua Feather Merchants, i often get to attend insider trade shows and events.  I’ll be posting to this blog about anything i can say a few interesting words about.

Gear:
I fish a Sage z-axis rod, and some Sage reel.  I also have a Temple Forks Outfitter TiCr i love.  Those are 5wts.

When i can, i use my 3wt on the small creeks.  I cut my teeth on the alpine creeks and lakes of Rocky Mt. National Park (as a park ranger), and i still use the cabellas 3wt combo i started with. Works great and they’ve replaced it 3 times for no charge (ran over, slammed in a car door, and broken when i fell on it during a snowshoeing trip).

Yeah, I haven’t even gotten my license for the year yet! Most times when i hit the water too early in the season I just end up tired and frustrated.
